We have a problem with our Thornycroft T150 diesel engine. After running the engine (engaged at 2K RPM) without problem for a period of time (could be up to an hour or more), suddenly the revs drop drastically and the engine begins to sputter. Sometimes playing with the throttle we can slowly bring the revs back up, but often the engine will just die. We’ve checked just about everything we know: cleaned the fuel separator, replaced the fuel filter, disassembled and reassembled the fuel pump – but no change. We've also tried attaching a jerrycan directly to the fuel pump (bypassing the separator and filter), and the same occurs. Seems fuel is not reaching the injectors. Could it be that the fuel pump fails intermittently?
Please help with any suggestion you may have.
Thanks
