Still having belt issues

Hello guys, seems these old 360's as much as i love em' require the attention of an infant.

Alternator belts still squealing, I've tightened, I've adjusted, I've inspected. I've changed belts.

Quiet for a bit then bam- screaming like a murder victim.

Noticing a black powdery soot all around front of motors, its from the belts.

I've inspected the pulleys and they are clean. I'm wondering if they are too smooth and its causing me to over tighten my belts thus causing all the wear?( black rubber dust)

I'm using gates belts, there premium XL line, adjustments are at the middle of the brackets.

Also noticing the starboard alternator putting out very low voltage. not close to 14volts, more like 12.6-13.3.

Port alternator is at 13.6 swinging to 14.1.

I guess next step is to swap out the starboard alt. with a spare is have and see if the voltage issue gets better.

I've become expert at swapping them.

Its driving me crazy.

Ayuh,.... Are ya Sure there's no rust spots, rough spots on the pulleys,..??

Get a bar of Lava hand soap, 'n rub it on both sides of the belts while idlin',....

Be careful, 'n keep yer fingers outa the way,...

Make sure the pulleys aren't worn.
A new belt of the correct section should sit about 1/16" proud with the rim of the pulleys.
If it sits deeper the pulleys need replacing.
