    Default Tie Down wieght ratings

Does any one have a rule of thumb for transom tie down weight capacity vs boat weight? I have a bunk trailer with a 21 ft Sea Ray that weights about 3500# with a full tank of gas - how much should the rating of the transom tie downs be?

Ayuh,.... Gravity does most of the work,...

The straps are just to control bounce,....

Any of the usual tie-downs will work,....

400 lbs rating they most be one of the real thin ones, if you do any long distance trailering and the straps are to narrow you may attract some unwanted attention from leos.
