1986 Evinrude 40 HP - E40ELCD - Power Trim Operating SLOW

It keeps getting slower & slower
Any tips of what I need to do?

Load test your battery and then check ALL the connections going to the T/T unit.

Thanks Boobie... Will do.. Also, I'm wondering if I should change out the hydraulic oil? I also see a hole @ where #44 is on the drawing that says 'oil' ?? Is this gearcase oil?

No. It's where you put oil in for the T/T. Try putting some T/T fluid in there and see what happens and get a plug for it.

Update: I checked all wiring connections & found the ok. I figured out hat I thought was a 'hole' was an allen wrench plug. I remove both the top & bottom plugs & it was completely DRY. Being in a rural area, I didn't have a source for T/T fluid so I filled with ATF fluid and BINGO,problem solved. I'm thinking if this may supposed to have gear oil? I haven't been able to find much documentation on this particular unit. Whatever, no more than T/T is used having ATF is way better than being DRY!

You can use Dexton II ATF auto trans fluid in that with no problem at all. Glad you got it.

OK. Guess I'd better check to be sure it was Dexton II & drain & replace if not. Thanks!!
