I have a 1976 Johnson 55hp that I recently damaged the lower unit gears on when hitting a sandbar at low tide. i am going to pull the gears and replace them, but i already have a 1964 Evinrude 40HP lower unit lying around collecting dust. Can i pull the gears out of that and put them in my Johnson 55? could help save alot of money. first time posting, thank you in advance!
