Stern drive cooling hose

Hi all
I'm In progress of replacing my outdrive and notice that the cooling water hose from the transom to the leg was totally missing and on the inside was a hose connected to the inside transom cooling hose connection wasn't hooked up at all? Is the inside hose meant to connect to the raw water intake.
This drive is a volvo penta diesel and a 290 leg
any information would be great Cheers
 
Yea it was terminated. You can allways add a sea chest that you can clean the strainer on the water and pull water from if you want to add a livewell.
