Mercury/ Tohatsu 9.9/ 9.8 Powerhead swap

Hello,

Thank you for looking at my post. I work at an algae and weed control company, needless to say we are rough on outboards. I have a 2010 Mercury 9.9 209 cc 4 stroke in the back that blew up in the first season. I've been looking for a powerhead for it for some time. I have a couple questions:

In theory it looks like you can swap over the Tohatsu 9.8 powerhead. Has anyone ever done this? Is it possible? I found a good used 1 for $150.00 out of an 07 9.8 4 stroke.

The Merc 9.9 of that vintage is in fact a Tohatsu 9.8. Some of the Merc's have a slightly different carb, and slightly different shift/throttle, but the powerheads are identical.
