Need help. Have 2001 4 stroke 50 hp Mercury, all carbs have gas leaks on plunger rod. Rubber bellows are deteriorated. Can someone explain if the plunger rod should be sealed or how gas is getting by plunger rod. Could float be too high in carbs? Rubber bellows, are they supposed to prevent this? I assumed they were there to protect from dirt or debris. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for giving me the language I need to research this problem. Can you tell me how your resolved this?

I have a 25hp mariner that has this issue. Started gradually and now is leaking big time from the bellows. I rebuilt the rest of the carb but cannot figure out how to change the bellows. It doesn't seem like that would or should prevent this much fuel from leaking out. The carb looks like new. I have no idea whats going on.

Here is a link to a video of the problem.
