Hey guys, my tilt in was being limited by a bolt in the second to last hole closest to the transom. In certain application I can't tilt in enough and its pissing me off. Can I remove this bolt completely and have no tilt in limitation at all or must I run a stopper bolt in at least in the last hole closest to the transom.

Thanks!

You can put it in the first hole closest to the transom. If your having trouble keeping the bow down for a level plane add weight up front. How big is your boat?

Hey thanks, it's 17 fiberglass savage escort. Been smacking the wave hard. It's got a deep v but bc of the current tilt in stop I can't get it to plow like my evinrude v4 at slow speeds.
ill try what u suggest.
if that doesn't work and I run with no stop bolt at all will that damage anything? Cheers

You dont want the swivel bracket to slam into the transom. I doubt it will hurt the motor any have you checked WOT rpms? Just sounds like shifting weight forward will improve the ride but that is a small boat and you will get slapped around in the rough. Looks like 5500 is the proper WOT rpms for the 1989 merc not sure with your motor. It will damage the transom paint if you let the swivel bracket hit there.

how does the boat come out of the hole compared to the evinrude?is the top end running the rated rpm for the merc?if the evinrude was a 90 also then I can tell you it was a high torque motor.. I would make sure the prop for it is the right one...
