Long shaft. Serial #0G590511. Tiller-handle shift.
A new lower unit was purchased a couple of years ago.
The shift-shaft positioning was exactly 22 inches when the new lower unit was installed.
(Top of the water pump base to the center of the hole at the top of the shift shaft).
It has seen moderate use for a couple of years.
Now the tilller handle doesn't "snap" into reverse.
With the top of the shift shaft disconnnected from the yoke, it does.
Looks like the shift shaft needs to be turned in (clockwise) a turn or two.
Can this adjustment be made without separating the lower unit from
the driveshaft housing???
