73--25hp johnson---coughing and spitting through exhaust

This engine will run fine for about 30 sec to a min---than will start coughing and spitting through exhaust ---than ill run good or another 30 sec than start the same thing again----new pugs---new thermostat---new coils----w points---new water pump- carb been rebuilt and replaced twice--new fuel pump --checked fuel its good---compression 155-120 both cylinders hot or cold---park I deep fire red---what's going on here anybody might know----
 
These are the classic symptoms of a " lean fuel condition "-----Yes it is.----------Try opening the low speed mixture 1/4 turn at a time.----------------And check to make sure throttle is not opening too early.

I thought so too--but messing with needle adj---helps little at first but first than goes back doing the same thing-----no matter how muchu adjust goes back to doing the same thing-----u adjust it a little it will speed up level off than start the same thing back over
