150 blackmax . how to start without a key

Just bought this boat and it doesn't have a key. Plan on buying a key switch for it but before I go spending money on this motor I wanna make sure it at least runs. So what wires do have to disconnect to make it run

Motor is an 89 mercury 150 black max xr2
 
Unplug cannon plug and jump solenoid to start, make sure water is hooked up. To kill it plug harness back in. Take a magnifying glass and look where key inserts and should be a letter stamped in it..example D. Go to a dealer and get 2 keys for it ,get a 1X and a 2X and X is the letter stamped into switch.
