just replaced the propshaft seal on my 1992 4hp mercury and its still leaking,propshaft doesn't appear to be bent,any ideas,thanks

might possibly be the o-ring in the prop shaft housing

Was there a groove cut into the propshaft where the old seal was? If so dont press the new seal all the way in so it rides on a good part of the shaft.

Are you sure it's gear lube not exhaust leftovers.

turns out they gave me the wrong seal,ordered one from Nissan,hope its right this time
