I am considering buying a 2004 DF140 with 750 hours at a good price. It is in good condition by appearance, and have had oil changed and maintenance every 100 hours. I can run it on the boat before buying.
Questions.
1. How many more hours can I reasonably expect out of the motor if it has been taken care of up to this point?
2. Where there any issues with the DF140 from that year?
3. Anything in particular I should really look for problem wise?
4. Any problem buying a motor that old?
5. Are these motors quiet by today's standards?
6. Are they pretty fuel efficient by today's standards?
I am not against spending a lot more on a newer motor if there is a good reason. But this is 1/4 the price of a newer motor.
