Hello to the group and good day.
I have a 2000 115 hp 2 stroke Yamaha v4 with carbs running pre-mix. As part of it's post season maintenance, I decided to replace the water pump impeller since I have owned the motor for 4 years and really do not know how old the present impeller is. On removal of the pump housing, I noticed that the plate under the impeller is scored. I decided to replace that as well.
On top of the impeller on the pump shaft, there are 2 rings- one metal and a plastic one under it. I did not want to use pliers or pry on the metal ring without knowing how it comes off. The 2 rings appear to be holding the impeller itself. The impeller appears to not come off over the rings. I saw a video on how to remove the impeller on a motor like mine but maddeningly it did not actually show how to remove it.
Any advice of how to deal with the rings? Thanks in advance.
