25hp Johnson pops or misses at idle and above

1972 Johnson 25 hp has a pop or miss at idle and just above before going in gear. I have cleaned carb and tried opening air screw a bit but it has it after starting and running a minute. I have before cured this on others by opening air more but this does not seem to help.
 
Don't be afraid to open the needle some more. If that doesn't work, check the throttle pick-up point (link & sync). If all else fails, you probably will have to look for a problem in the carb's idle circuit, OR an air leak into the crankcase.
