1992 115 hp mercury starts but cut out when rev increased

115 mercury (1992)starts ok ,but as soon as you increase power motor cuts out.
will run in gear at very low rev,but as soon as you increase revs ,cuts out ?
Can anyone advise ?

Only the top 2 carburetors work when motor is idling.-------The bottom 2 kick in at 1800 RPM.------------------History on the motor is always a help to determine problems!------So how long have you owned it ?-------Did problem start suddenly ?-----Have you done a compression test ?----Checked for spark on all leads?-------Is oil injection in service ?-------Has oil injection system been checked for oil output ?------Waterpump checked ?--------Checked for contaminated fuel ( water ) supply?
 
Had the motor from new,no problems
Had it for 24 years (550 hrs use)
No problems to date
No test done
Oil injection ok
No check on all injection
Ditto water pump
Runs well in gear on full revs with ears on.
 
????-------On the muffs and in gear is really still nuetral.---The prop does not do any work!-------Testing as per post # 2 needs to be done.
 
Have you taken the cover off?? Are all carbs fully open at full throttle?....Can you see any spark leakage if you run the motor at night? Are all plug wires connected?(It's easy to accidentally pull them loose when installing the cover) More info needed.
 
Thanks for all the information.
Found that it was the bottom 2 carbs,
Gave both a good spray of carb cleaner and bingo, goes like new.
Will pull both off and clean.
