1985 Evinrude VRO 60 hp

As I continue to search for the right motor for my daughter's 15ft Steury, I came across a 1985 Evinrude VRO 60hp. The boat is rated at 65hp max. The oil injection has been disconnected. It has power tilt/trim.

He is interested in trading me for my 1976 Evinrude 85hp. I don't have t/t.

Is the 1985 Evinrude a good motor? I'm assuming going to a 2 cylinder will give pretty good gas mileage and be a bit less noisy?

I am considering it an even up trade (my increase in hp offsets his t/t) Fair?
 
The 1985hp model Evinrude/Johnson was an excellent engine when it was new.

Now, what condition it is in now is anybody's guess!

Have a qualified Evinrude outboard mechanic check it over thoroughly before making that trade.

Of course you could just take the present owners word too! :rolleyes: Haha, giggle, giggle snicker, cough!
