'93 Force 90hp Kill switch wire question (no spark)- black/yellow seems to be grounding somewhere...

I've been trying to restore spark to my force 90. It sat for a year- ran fine when I stored it- now zero spark.
I ran some tests on the wiring and found that the black/yellow (from kill switch) seems to be grounded regardless of kill switch position/status. Just to make sure I have this right, when the blck/y wire from the kill switch to the switch box is grounded it kills ignition, yes? If this is correct, then if I disconnect the blck/y wire from the switch box ('ungrouding' it), then I should be seeing a spark right?
I am getting power from the stator to the switch box while cranking. All three coils are not firing, so they're ruled out for now.

Ideas?
Thank you

If there's a tilt stop switch on that, disconnect it and throw it away. If not, rewire from the switch box to the harness plug.

I had a Merc that did this. Never found out where the short to ground was, but I eliminated it this way.
