Outboard Storage Question

Most everyone I know runs the fuel completely out of the carb and bowl when storing their motors for extended periods. I had a fella, a while back who is an outboard service mechanic tell me that I should leave fuel in the bowl and not run the motor out. He said this would keep seals and things from drying out. I would appreciate any and all opinions and advice ya'll have. Thanks and God Bless.

Thanks to all. I have always ran my motors out after every use and before winter. I just wanted to confirm. Seems to me leaving fuel in them would cause corrosion and varnish probs. Especially with today's ethanol.

varnish really isn't an issue with the stuff sold as gasoline today....it evaporates pretty fast. the corrosion is still of concern. Also, its best to empty the tank and burn it in the truck....the choice is to add stabilizer.
