Water in gear box

The Borg Warner gear box has been submerged in salt water and the oil has emulsified looking like strawberry milk shake,
can this be rectified by doing oil changes Or should the gear box be overhauled in a work shop?
i am lead to believe the some have fiber plates which could be a problem down the track?
please help!

Hi peter, yes the trans must be disassembled to clean out all the water as there are several places where it can't flush out and can cause the trans to rust in gear over a period of time when it is not used. Replace the cooler also.
