think gears jammed in out drive

I have a 1985 OMC V-6 800 The outdrive was up and I found out how to lower it finally. Now the outdrive will not go down. Using a jumper to the solenoid will not operate it either. My question is. How do I separate the outdrive from the outside of the boat. I don't know where to begin. I have looked for bolts or nuts to remove from the outside but can only find 4 bolts on the left side that look like they support the gear drive for the up and down.
Is there an axel that the outdrive pivots on that can be accessed from the outside of the boat?

Sorry about the error. I got the outdrive to go down now it will not go up. After further investigation it appears that I can remove the side plates each has 4 bolts
remove the bushings etc on both sides and it looks as if I can lift the unit up and out. Is that correct?

Well I finally figured out how to remove the stern drive from the back of the boat. Very easy. Thanks for some of the suggestions.
