Thread: Gear box

    Default Gear box

I have two 200hp cummins engines driving Hamilton jets through 1:1 gearboxes. The engines are never under any strain and the boat only does 16 knots. I was thinking the impellors would need more revs. Is there such a thing as a 1:2 gearbox and if so would this work? Thanks Paul

    What RPM are you running?
    5.9L engines?
How long have you owned the boat?
How big is the boat, what does it weigh?
Are the impellers the correct size and in good shape?
    Lots of variables here.
    No a 1:2 won't help a bit.
You need a Hamilton expert, I don't think any hang out here.
