02 bf225 knowledge needed.

Hey fellas i have a pair of 2002 bf225's and with just over 300hrs i would like to replace the midshaft bushings and drop of course both LU's. To drop the lower do i leave the engines in neutral? Forward gear or reverse? This is what i have most doubt in. Thanks fellas.
 
Ok, that sounds like good advice except i dont have a manual for these motors. I am sure many here have taken down their lower units and have tips and tricks for doing so... I have never removed these LU's so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
easy put them in neutral ,, I then use a pair of VIce grip needle nose Plyers snap them above midsection to hold shft tube on spline then drop foot leaving shift tube attached then as you put foot back on be sure spline is lined..
