I'd like to start off by saying hello to everyone and say I do appreciate any help you can offer ! I was recently given a Johnson motor as title states , it runs great but the other day the recoil spring broke and I was wondering if the was a fix that I might be able to do or leave it to a pro ? Also can this be changed to electric start ?
 
Depends on your inginuity.---------I think you might be able to fit a Briggs & Stratton starter on there.-----Or maybe not.

The spring is part number 0312932. It is avaialble from MarineEngine.com see http://www.marineengine.com/parts/j...ufacturer=Evinrude&section=Rewind+Starter-4.5

With some ingenuity and care it should be possible to replace it .Look for a manual with the instructions at http://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html

There is no electric start option
