Spark Plug Issues

I have a 2009 Cobalt 262 with a 8.1 GI DP, 375hp. At 80 hours the engine began running very roughly and was stalling. Dealer's service department said that the spark plugs needed to be replaced, that it was a typical problem with "big block" engines, that it normally needed to be done every 100 hours, and that there was nothing I could do (fuel additives, etc.) to stop it. The plugs were replaced and the engine ran like a champ.........until 150 hours, when the same problem recurred requiring the plugs to be replaced again.

The boat has received all it's manufacturer's recommended servicing and I get my gas at either the dealer's gas dock or another reputable location on the lake. Am I getting a straight answer from the service guys and am doomed to replace the plugs every 70-80 hours, or does anyone know of an alternative?
