1993 Mercruiser 4.3LX Poor acceleration and low top end

Despite inspecting, cleaning, gapping sparkplugs and cleaning carb (4bbl) and verifying float integrity (no leaks), acceleration is pathetic and engine is perhaps attaining 3000 rpm. Smooth running and OK at idle. Perplexed!

Ayuh,.... Sounds like the carb needs a full on Rebuild,....

Perhaps. My carb cleaning mechanic installed some carb parts, not sure which ones, he thought carb was good to go. We are going to roll up our sleeves Saturday, check timing, etc.
