1986 crusader 454 stalling at idle

Beginning this year my 1986 454 with Rochester carb has been stalling at idle in gear from time to time. I thought I had some water in fuel but separater was all gas. I can restart it right away and if I get it to 1200rpmor above it runs fine. Plugs and wires are new. I have about 25 hours on plugs and they look new. No signs of gas fouling. It also has the delco voyager electronic ignition. Any thoughts on why this is happening?
 
something could have acquired a little crud and need a cleaning....could also be that the engine is ~ 30 years old...and the "gasoline" they sell nowadays is not what it was designed to use....do you use a stabilizer?
