1987 forrester motor swap

hello i am new here, i have a 1987 18 1/2 foot forrester with a OMC/GM 4 banger 3.0L engine, my whole upper and lower unit is bad and needs a rebuild kit or all new/used. i have a 302 v8 with a full upper and lower unit all mounting everything i need from this other boat and can buy for 300$ could i make this work in my boat? i know im going to have to do some modifications for sure, but idk about the housing where the upper unit driveshaft goes in, sorry dont know all the terminology for it, thank you!
 
Ayuh,..... OMC is Dead, 'n Gone,....

If I were puttin' that kinda work into a hull, I'd use a Merc or Volvo, that parts can be bought for, rather than an OMC dead horse,....
 
okay what about the lower unit of that 302 motor will that work both of them are OMC but the 302 one is a cobra. or any suggestions to best way to find a whole lower unit?
