My kad-42p-a continues to over heat. All new or rebuilt except turbo, compressor and fuel inj pump are original. Idles fine... Runs good up to 3000 over that over heats. Compressor quits engine loses power cant hold plain. Especially when it's cold or first used.

Lots of questions for your overheat - Hull and running gear perfectly clean? Heat exchanger and after cooler recently acid washed? Old raw water impeller? Wear plates in the raw water pump? Exhaust elbow checked?
Your problem after the compresser shuts off is a very common Volvo problem and is usually caused by a worn exhaust housing in the turbo. They are a bit cheap & nasty and eat out the exhaust housing so that the turbo can't reach it's boost. It could also be corrosion causing the vanes to stick inside the exhaust housing until you have been running for a while. Unfortunately those cheap and nasty turbos aren't cheap in the Volvo price list so see if you can find someone who rebuilds them or 'sleeves' the existing exhaust housing. You need to put a boost gauge on the engine to check the turbo boost to confirm your problem. There is also a possibility that you could have an exhaust or intake manifold leak rather than a worn turbo, but worn turbos are a really common Volvo issue.
