Working a '86 Mercury Classic 50. Will only start if kill switch wire is removed from the switch box. Once started runs fine. To shut off touch kill switch wire to switch box. Kill switch is functioning when tested. Any help is appreciated.
 
i see you have another thread working on this problem...please up date that one and lets use it to troubleshoot...
 
i looked a little closer and the other thread is a year old...did the problem disappear for a year and come back or did you live with it?
 
Didn't have this motor a year ago so that thread isn't mine. We did find that the kill switch wire had some of the insulation missing and it was grounding out. Working good now. Thanks
