Need some King Cobra advice (cone clutch drive)

I'm looking at a boat that is equipped with an OMC King Cobra drive. I know a lot of the parts are NLA and I'm also aware that these drives are pretty tough. Is there anything I should look for when checking this boat out? Trouble area? Tell tale signs of wear and tear/abuse? I'm probably going to switch to a Bravo setup in the futur but would like to get a few years out of this setup before I have to disassemble the whole damn boat. Any help with this would be great
 
If it ain't broke....
You can expect many many many more years of use with regular maintenance. The things that will kill your drive will be stuff like stripping the splines out of the main shaft or chewing up a gear set. Everything else you can pretty much get.
