Welcome, You have a tach? What's the rpm's?
Should be 1100.

Put it in N get under and spin the prop.
Any noises?
Drain the oil. Look for metal shavings.
Possible the lower unit has a seized bearing???

I have done that even ran magnet through the oil and strained it. Im wondering if it maybe that switch box assmbley ??
 
RPM's at idle?
No tach? Tiny tach makes a small one you can get and attach to a plug wire.
If the bearings seized it probably wouldn't have shavings.
