I have a 2011 bf 20 it starst and runs great.. Afet a few minutes of running it begins to run poorly and sometimes cut of..once I restart it will run goos for another few minutes then does the same thing.. any ideas???

Over heating could be a candidate, but a couple of minutes isn't very long to overheat. Normally a motor would only be getting up to temperature after a few minutes. It is possible that it is heat affecting the coils after that time and you are losing spark. Given that it starts up again it sounds like you can rule out fuel pump unless you are manually priming it before restarting.

First thing is to take off the "fuel chamber" (item #2 in the parts diagram link below) and shake out ALL the liquid that is in it. The fuel chamber is a black rubberized thing that is held in place by a black rubberized thing-Y that slides on to the engine oil dipstick. You need to disconnect the hoses going to it, slide the whole affair up and off the dipstick tube, and shake it and dry it out. It can be difficult to get off the dipstick tube because of the tight fit but a little spritz of WD-40 will help. Just BE CAREFUL and take care not to break off the dipstick tube while you're wrestling with it.

That chamber collects water over time and NEEDS to be emptied out periodically. It's best to do it when you put the boat up for the season each year.

If that doesn't solve your problem, then it may be time to visit the carburetor.

QUESTIONS: Do you REGULARLY drain the carburetor float chamber?
Is this an electric or pull start outboard?

Good luck.
