BF130 HP Belts

Just curious how often the belts should be changed on a BF130? My father has a 2003 with a fairly low number of hours on it. Also, just curious if 2003 was a year where they had issues with the heads, etc? He is in the process of selling his boat and somebody told him that belts needed to be changed and that it was an $800 job and that particular year wasn't a good year for those engines.
 
Belts are to be inspected yearly for cracks, oil etc. Change them if they need it.

Yes, this motor is in the serial number series that have had head crack problems. Normally, they turn up pretty quick, if they are going to occur. The engine will have a definite miss to it, at idle and acceleration.

I see many of these that have had no problems whatsoever.
