Hey all new poster here. I have a 2003 Bryant 214 with a Merc Alpha drive. I have owned the boat for 6 years with very little problems. We replaced the water pump last fall and the first time out this year I am having shifting issues into drive. Reverse seems to work fine. One thing I did notice was much stiffer throttle control so I took off the back cover and noticed the grease was clumped in away from moving parts. I added grease to the bushings and it seemed to free up some. It does go into gear just fine at times then other times the engine rpms will increase before it gets into gear. One temporary fix was to put it in reverse then go back to forward. It seemed to help a little. I was always careful to not let it go into gear with the rpms were increasing to prevent damage but I did continue to use it last week.
