Force 85 Backfired now it wont start.

I just picked up an 88 bayliner with an 85 force outboard. Stupidly i ran it dry for a few seconds to hear it start but then it backfired and wont start ever since then. It cranks but wont start. Any suggestions?
 
The flywheel key might have sheared.
Remove the flywheel and check the key.

When torqueing it's 95# on the top nut.
I use a BIG 3 jaw puller.
Some use the 3- 1/4-20 screw holes on top of the wheel.
Most end up stripping them out so be careful.
WD or PB-Blaster and then tap with a hammer.
While it's off check the magnet in the rim of the wheel.
It's about time for the glue to release.
