Hi all,
I have a 2004 50HP Bigfoot which has a loud rattle in forward gear, reverse gear (worst) and neutral (not as bad). With forward gear engaged (engine off) if I can rotate the prop backwards by hand it turns easily but there's a loud knock, knock, knock (or tick, tick, tick). But if I do the same with reverse gear engaged the prop does not rotate freely (as I'd expect) either way.
There is no play on the prop shaft. When I drained the oil today there was only 450ml in there (supposed to be 710ml) .... I checked the oil with a magnet but it did not pick up any metal filings. Oil looked dark but not milky.
Can anyone help me with this?
All the best.
