I have a 25 Merc, 86-87, and I just had carbs cleaned, changed plugs, and it
still dies when it starts to load up, also replaced the fuel connector, and cleaned filter.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

T

"Cleaned carb" does not mean a good carb. It's flooding. You can prove it to yourself by pulling the fuel line and running it dry. The motor should pick up just before the fuel is gone.

As jeff suggested, this could be flooding. It could also be lack of fuel. Run the outboard as you normally would, and when it begins to falter, immediately shut it off and remove the spark plugs and inspect. If the plugs are wet with fuel, it indicates a flooding problem, if they are dry, it indicates a fuel starvation problem.

Thanks for the tips, I suspected a possible shortage of fuel, but never thought
of possible flooding, I will check this on the weekend.

Thanks guys,

T
