test for spark and lower unit and prop rotation

1997 force 120hp


i need guide on how to test for spark

i removed the lower unit and now i cannot get it in gear and i want to know the prop rotation when it is in forward gear and when in reverse gear.


when it is in gear shoulder prop move only in one direction or it can move opposite direction with clicking sound

Stand over the lower with the front pointing away from you.
Reach up to the shift rod with your left hand.
Turn it to the left as you reach down and pull up on the blade of the prop with your right hand.
That should put it in F
Now shift the shifter into F and try to assemble.
Now if you move the shift rod ANY it will probably drop out of gear.
If you move the prop down at all it might drop out of gear.

You can turn the shift rod and pull up on the prop.
Then turn the shift rod to the right and it will go into N
The prop should turn free when in N
You can try to install it in N.
Just make sure the shifter is in N if you try.
