Please have a look at these photos of severely burned up wire connectors on my 1997 Mariner 60HP.

1. What causes this?
2. What symptoms reactions in performance will this issue cause? How will motor react?
3 How do I fix/repair?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Looks like those spade or bullet type connectors got corroded and formed a resistive contact.
Resistance with lots of current creates heat, hence the burned connectors.
I guess the connectors were not marine prepped.
Just cut them out and replace them and this time make sure they can stand a bit of moisture.

Cheers,
Frits.
