Just launched and noticed a leak on my 5.0 EFI Mercruiser with alpha one. The dripping was on the lower blue freeze out plug. Really got on it and the plastic housing cracked open. Now its really leaking....
Any pointers on how to fix this?
Can it be done in water?

Will I need to haul out to do it?

Thanks!

Where exactly is this "freeze plug"

Is it threaded into the motor? the exhaust manifold?

You really have to be more specific..........every piece of info makes answering questions much more easy.

A picture would be great.

there are typically two drain points on the motor, one on each side,

there is also two drain points on the exhaust manifolds one on each side.

So which is it?

This is the freeze lower of the two plastic blue plugs. On this Unit there is one on top front and one way low front.

The problem is the lower the black plastic part that holds the blue plug has broken out.

How can it be remedied?

Jack thanks for your help...
Here is a picture of the plug and the black plastic housing that broke out...

Sorry had some problems posting this pic of the blue plastic plug...

And the Black plastic housing part that broke off

Cant seen the pic but if its what I think it is remove the rest of the plastic fitting #8(22-806926A-1) and just replace the fitting.or #4 (22-860088)for the block fitting

Thanks.

See that, however where this is located is inaccessible to assess the situation,,,

Its at the bottom of my engine compartment laid up against a bulkhead with about 2" play.

Is there a part # or description for this seawater outlet?

Is there a part # or description for this seawater outlet?

the L fitting is the water inlet to the manifold. just to clarify, your talking about the block drains?
