Pretty much all outboards take the same gear oil. 75W 90 or 80W 90 is what you are looking for.

So I shouldnt use the Hypoid 90 that West Marine said i should use (i think the lady just looked it up online)....

So Hypoid 90 is SAE 85W-90 which will be fine too. Anything in that range should be suitable.
