mercrusier and nema 2000

I currently have a 2007 Mercrusier 8.1 with analog gauges. I just installed a Garmin 7612 xsv and would like to get the gauges working via the nema 2000. I have a mercury gateway that a a 10 pin rectangular plug. I plugged the cable into the matching connector on the motor. My garmin is recognizing the gateway but no gauges show on the display. Any suggestions? Do I need a different cable?
 
If your garmin "sees" the gateway, doubt if it is a cable problem...assuming that the gateway you bought works with the engine you have... If it does, carefully read instructions w/gateway to see what if anysetup you need to do.
