Changing out the water pump. But what type of sealer should i use. Seems like you can't get the sealer #1000. any more. Not a fan of using Permatex for marine applications. Thanks
 
847 is the current replacement for wherever the old Sealer 1000 was called for. I believe marineengine has it, but not 100% positive. If you are thinking about under the water pump plate, that is not a super critical area. Make sure it is clean and use most any gasket sealant there.
 
Thanks,Boobie & fdrgator. Yes that's were I was going to use it under the plate. Since there are no gaskets for the older pumps. Do you recommend using the 847 between the plate and pump housing ?
 
Ok, I've been looking up info on 3 M 847. Found 847 Scotch Weld Nitrile Rubber & Gasket adhesive. For bonding plastic,gasket material and leather. I need metal to metal ? Is there a different 847 for metal ? Thanks.
