I am just replacing the water pump and shift shaft seal on my Alpha One Gen II. I noticed that there is a bit of lateral play in the shaft which passes through the water pump. There is no vertical play though.
Should there be any lateral play in this shaft and if so how much. The drive has been fine, has been full of oil all the time and not shown any symptoms of anything going wrong.
