Hi guys
Ive been chasing a leak and today I think I found it.
The tell tail signs of salt trails!!

This is on a 2002 4.3 MPI

This pic is just below the riser and elbow.

Whats the easiest way to fix this?
Whats the minimum amount of stuff to take off to fix it?
I tried tightening the clamp but it was already very tight.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Replace the boots on both sides and clean the metal off real good to remove all rust/corrosion

The rubber is probably eaten away.

Sorry for the crappy pic, this one shows the four clamps.
It had new manifolds risers and elbows in January just prior to me buying it.
Looks like they cheaped out and kept the old rubbers maybe?

Is it just a matter of loosening all the clamps and pulling out the elbow and rubbers or are there any special tricks?

It is not uncommon for the clamps to loosen a bit, I used to tighten them regularly when servicing a boat.

No magic just loosen clamps well and pull apart and take a look see...........maybe only loose clamps but if the rubber is eaten away or disfigured replace with new and that should solve your issue.

This is what it looked like when I pulled the bellows and elbow.

Not really having a clue what to do here, I spoke to the guy in the shop that replaced the manifolds and risers (but not bellows) and he suggested, scrape, sand, clean and paint the corroded area of the Y piece.
So I did!

Hope Im doing the right thing!

The bellows cleaned up ok, but Ill take them to the shop tomorrow and see what he reckons and probably replace them.
After 13 years, cant complain.

Now I have another mess to clean up :-(

The other side is ok and I really dont want to touch it but......

So finished it off today, new rubbers, new paint, new clamps.
Hopefully stop raining soon and I can get out for test before winter sets in
Many thanks for the advice, much appreciated :)
