Just purchased a 1988 Bayliner 2556. In process of refurbishing. The previous owner installed rebuilt engine with a new oil pan. He did not use the original oil fill tube and used a basic oil plug instead. I had the fitting machined to fit the new pan. I need to know where the tube mounts to on the block. The fitting needs to be tightened and end up with the thread for the flare fitting from the tube in the right direction to mount the tube secure to the block. Using the stern as 12:00 can anyone tell me where the tube should fit and where does the bracket that slides up an down the tube is supposed to mount to? Thank you!

Ayuh,.... From the fittin' in the pan, ya mount it to the place you need it to be, in yer application,....

Ya put the retainin' strap onto whatever you can find along the way to the place ya need it to be, in yer application,....

Where ever it's Convenient to get too,....

I've had to bend up a Merc dipstick, 'n tube to go to the aft of the motor, insteada the usual forward corner,...
A brake line bender made it a fairly easy job,....
