Front bearing race removal

Is there any way to remove the front bearing race on a 15hp Johnson lower unit with out the $212. tool that is advertised? Tool number is 391259

Heat the nose with a propane torch.----Tap the housing on a bench and bearing will fall out.

If propane doesn't do it, get some Mapp Gas.
