2003 5.7 350 serpentine belt tension

Just reinstalled raw water pump. What is the correct tension for the serpentine belt ( using your thumb ) - how much deflection ?

About a quarter inch deflection with reasonable pressure on the longest length between pulleys (usually the top length).

1/4” up and down or 1/2” up and down?

According to my information, it should be 1/2 to 3/4". With a new belt you may have to check again after a few hours running.
